Novelty only in our clinic – three-dimensional computer tomography – Gendex GXB 500, essential for safe implantation.
X-ray examinations are indispensable part of treatment planning and they enable to precise control the procedure.
The newest achievement in diagnostics is apparatus for computer tomography.
These examinations have been well known in medicine for years, but only the special conical method enabled to use it in dental diagnostics. One of the facilities is used in our clinic I-CAT (Gendex company, USA). The difference between this apparatus and others used commonly in medicine is that using 90% lower radiation we can get 10 times more precise image.
The device enables to look inside the tissue before treatment. Accurate three-dimensional images of bones, nerves, blood vessels and soft tissues enable to plan treatment with the highest precision. Usage of special computer software allows to diagnose disease indicating changes in bone and to localize important anatomical structures as maxillary sinus, alveolar nerve. Tomography is very useful in implantology. We can accurately plan the procedure of implantation. Before surgery, dentist can proceed ‘virtual treatment’, introduce animated implants into three-dimensional model of patient’s tissues. Thanks to this the implantation procedure is very fast (10-15 minutes for implant input). Skilful surgical procedure causes fast healing, minimizes pain and swelling after treatment. Three-dimensional image is very helpful in difficult extractions (wisdom teeth removal). Precise diagnostics allows to avoid gum’s cutting and suturing, even in case of deeply fractured roots. In endodontic treatment computer tomography gives the possibility to analyze root canals’ position, inflammation changes and enables to save teeth qualified to removal before.
