A beautiful smile is an important part of our appearance. Quite often, however, our white beautiful teeth are discoloured or stained as a result of smoking or drinking coffee,  tea or juices. Fortunately, there is an effective method of bleaching your teeth. It is called 'tray teeth whitening method' and can be easily performed at the dentist's office. Whitening gel particles penetrate into the enamel and dentine, releasing oxygen atoms that cause oxidation. This induces the whitening process. During the first appointment a doctor examines your teeth and gums and, if needed, temporarily protects any dental defects as bleaching will not bleach out fillings, crowns and bridges. After plaque and tartar removal, the next step involves taking impressions for individual bleaching trays. At home the patient places the whitening gel Opalescence into the bleaching trays and wears them at night (eight hours). The whole procedure lasts from 8 or 10 nights. The effects can be visible just after the first application. Once you have achieved a pleasing tooth shade (it takes about two weeks) you may have to have the dentistry redone in order to match your new colour. If you have very dark teeth the bleaching procedure may last longer. When bleaching your teeth you may experience temporary sensitivity to cold. In such cases we recommend the use of the ‘ULTRA EZ’ desensitising gel. Several years after the treatment, your teeth may get slightly darker as a result of taking staining substances such as coffee , tea and cigarettes. To keep your white colour, your dentist may recommend tray bleaching for one night every several years.
