Implant – what is it?

IMPLANT is a titanic element introduced into a jaw-bone, replacing the root of a missed tooth. Introduced surgically into the bone crest it provides a basis for a permanent prosthetic restoration – crown, bridge or a full permanent reconstruction of the occlusion in case when the patient doesn’t have any tooth. The basic material for implants is titanium – it is the only chemical element discovered so far that combines two significant features:
- It is perfectly tolerated by our body, it is not treated as a ‘foreign body’,
- It is resistant enough to endure the same load that natural teeth roots are subject to.
